Step 2: Make Your Bio Pop!
The more contrast between the text and your background the better. On a dark background, try light text. On a light background, try the opposite. If your picture isn't particularly light or dark, or if the photo is cluttered, use the opacity slider to make the bio box more solid. Start simple with black, white or grey -- then see if you want to spice it up later. Tip: be careful with crazy colored text. People are used to reading text in black or white (think about product packaging).
Step 3: Words, Words, Words
The text of your name and your headline determine the width of your bio box (whichever is longer). If you're bio box seems too wide, edit down your headline or name. Remember: your headline is displayed next to your name in search engine results, so make it descriptive!
In your bio text, find the balance between the amount of information, and how easy your bio is to read. Too much text is intimidating to your visitors, and too little is doing them a diservice. The about.me pages shown here do a great job of all of these things.
